MAN UP WEEKEND JANUARY 4-6, 2019
What is Biblical masculinity? What is manhood? Are they defined by cultural norms, or has God designed men for something greater? Some have portrayed Jesus as a muscular warrior, while others have portrayed effeminacy. There has never been a truer model of manhood than Jesus. He was kind, patient and gentle; yet not a sissy. He was powerful, integrous, uncompromising; yet not a dictator. He was pure love in grace, truth and power. Is it possible for men today to live with his design?
MAN UP WEEKEND is where we inspire vision for all areas of a man’s life; including emotional identity, purpose, destiny and resourcefulness. There is a hero in every man that God is about to uncover. We will venture into issues of masculine intimacy, servanthood, vision, healthy sexuality and conquering compulsive desires. Once a man understands the Biblical, psychological and neurobiological processes behind their ardent bents, repair can happen - spirit, soul and body. Join us for a weekend where men will be empowered by God’s grace to MAN UP!

WHO IS BLAINE BARTEL?

For the past several years, Blaine Bartel, with the support of his wife Lori, has been actively coaching men who are struggling with porn and sexual brokenness. He has discovered a gift of grace to help these friends do the work of resurrection and reinvent a life previously unimagined.
You may be aware of some of Blaine’s accomplishments.
He was considered the “Youth Pastor of America.”
He hosted a national television show for more than a decade.
He became a best selling author.
He led the largest weekly student gathering in America.
This is what the public knew about Blaine.
What they didn’t know is that Blaine hated who he had become. Behind the curtains of his success was a man who was overcome by an unbreakable sexual addiction, severe clinical depression and marital brokenness. Eight years ago, he walked away from everything he had built and accomplished in an attempt to try to discover a life that was worth living.
After a desperate attempt to end his life, he was placed in an addiction recovery center in Phoenix, Arizona for 30 days. After hearing Blaine’s story, Dr. Ralph Earle, one of the nations leading sexual addiction specialists, told Blaine, “You are the poster child for sexual addiction. I honestly don’t know if you will ever get free.”
This was the beginning of a radical life transformation that would demand all Blaine had to give in order to fully encounter the resurrected life. Today, if you ask Blaine what his greatest achievement is, he will share this extraordinary seven year drama of the dusty, winding road up the mountain of recovery.
Blaine and Lori reside in Tulsa, Oklahoma, love hanging out with family and friends and have a weakness for reality shows. Along with his speaking and coaching, Blaine is a writer and has recently released a brand new book entitled, “Death by a Thousand Lies.”

Phillip has compiled years of service as the chaplain for the Kansas City Chiefs and today he serves as the oversight Pastor of all the NFL chaplains. Growing up in Spring Hill, Kansas, Phillip became an accomplished High School baseball player. Former Kansas City Royal, Kevin Seitzer engaged Phillip as a High School player, leading him to faith in Christ. His new found faith led him to plow through his many college scholarship offers to attend Liberty University, where he ultimately met the University’s founder, the famous pastor, Dr. Jerry Falwell. Phillip soon became Dr. Falwell’s personal intern and close friend. Phillip became a pastor of his own church when he was but 19 years of age.
Through the years Phillip’s personal and professional resume has taken him many places to speak to many audiences around the world. He is a featured speaker at conferences, churches, professional business events and has a featured segment on local TV. His background in pastoral leadership, serving professional athletes and their families, and his own story of fallenness has given him a vision for what redemption is all about. Today his life is invested in supporting high performance males to become godly men, faithful husbands, peaceful fathers, loving friends and to live out Biblical masculinity.
As one of the nation’s premier speakers and trainers, Phillip serves high-capacity leaders, executives, professional coaches, athletes and their teams to discover their true, authentic selves. His leadership talks are immediately understandable, credible and life-changing.
